Maison Perrier-Jouët and Atelier Montex present a dazzling addition to the Perrier-Jouët Objets Extraordinaires Collection

Ode à la Nature – Edition Volutes

Inspired by Maison Perrier-Jouët’s historic links with Art Nouveau, Ode à la Nature – Edition Volutes surrounds a jeroboam of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque champagne with graceful swirls – volutes in French – typical of this artistic movement. This exquisite creation – part of a limited, numbered edition of just 10 pieces – is the result of a collaboration with the Haute Couture embroiderer Atelier Montex, one of Chanel’s celebrated Métiers d’Art specialist artisans.

A shared vision of luxury, excellence and savoir-faire

The collaboration between Maison Perrier-Jouët and Atelier Montex is a dialogue between two French houses that not only share a vision of luxury and excellence, but also a passion for craftsmanship elevated to the point of absolute perfection. Founded in Paris in 1939, Atelier Montex has evolved a reputation for combining traditional artisanal techniques with original materials and innovative technology. In 2011, Montex joined Chanel’s Métiers d’Art and is now resident at Le 19M, the venue in Paris which brings together all Chanel’s specialist couture artisans under one roof.
Like the champagnes crafted by Maison Perrier-Jouët, Atelier Montex blends materials and techniques to create unique and precious objects. Ode à la Nature – Edition Volutes thus represents a remarkable encounter between the art of champagne and the art of embroidery, drawing on two different yet complementary traditions of French savoir-faire.

Art Nouveau

An elegant, floral style

Maison Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, a newly married couple united by their love of art and nature, as well as their vision of champagne. Free-spirited and independent-minded, they chose the Chardonnay grape as their signature, initiating the elegant, floral style which instantly sets Perrier-Jouët champagnes apart.

In 1902, this floral signature inspired Emile Gallé, one of the pioneers of the Art Nouveau movement, to design the Japanese anemone motif which would become the iconic emblem of the House, adorning every bottle of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque champagne. In turn, Atelier Montex drew inspiration from Maison Perrier-Jouët’s heritage, and in particular the natural motifs and sinuous lines typical of Art Nouveau, to create Ode à la Nature – Edition Volutes.

A masterpiece of grace and delicacy

With its exquisitely embroidered flowers and leaves that appear to swirl around the champagne bottle, Ode à la Nature – Edition Volutes is a contemporary reinterpretation of the light and graceful style that characterised Art Nouveau. The intricate structure, hand-crafted by a cabinetmaker in a painstaking process taking 20 hours, is formed of interlocking swirls of walnut and mirror-finish brass. The brass swirls, which are plated with 24-carat gold, take a jeweller seven hours to create. It is onto this intricate structure that the embroidered motifs are delicately attached. The flowers and leaves are embroidered on silk organza using 8,000 beads and sequins in some 30 shades of pink, white, gold and green, which are brought to vibrant, shimmering life by subtle differences in colour, shape and texture. Seventy crystal-set stones add further brilliance and refinement, while the centres of certain flowers are ornamented with white glass beads.

Employing the materials and techniques of Haute Couture, including lunéville and needle embroidery, a single décor takes 160 hours to complete.

Three rare Maison Perrier-Jouët vintages

Maison Perrier-Jouët is offering Edition Volutes in a limited and numbered edition of just 10 pieces to lovers of objets d’art and exceptional wines. To accompany this creation, Cellar Master Séverine Frerson has selected from the Oenothèque Perrier-Jouët – the House’s reserve of rare vintages – three outstanding expressions of the iconic Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque cuvée in a majestic jeroboam format. They represent a unique opportunity to appreciate, not only the unrivalled savoir-faire of Maison Perrier-Jouët, but also the remarkable continuity of its elegant, floral style, since each vintage is drawn from a different decade.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1999

On the nose, intense floral notes of fragrant peony complemented by exotic fruit. Honey, nougat and brioche lend a smooth dimension, while subtle toasted notes, apricot and candied lemon enhance the generosity of this cuvée. The palate is distinguished by fresh, almost airy notes, and perfect balance.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008

On the nose, aromas of orange blossom and white peach, complemented by toasted notes that have developed over time. A lively, complex attack and a subtle sensation on the palate, which evolve into a distinctively mineral finish. An excellent vintage defined by structure and great finesse.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2012

The first nose is floral, with aromas of acacia and magnolia, swiftly followed by notes of candied lemon, dried fruit and acacia honey. The mouthfeel is frank and mineral, developing into a fine, silky finish. The impression is one of balance and generosity.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is a true icon – a rare and elegant champagne that celebrates the art of blending in the Perrier-Jouët style.

An exceptional Art Nouveau heritage

Ode à la Nature – Edition Volutes represents the second instalment of the collaboration between Maison Perrier-Jouët and Atelier Montex, which was initiated in 2024 with the creation of Ode à la Nature – Edition Libellule. Embracing a jeroboam of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque champagne in a pair of intricately embroidered dragonfly wings, Ode à la Nature – Edition Libellule was directly inspired by a design by Emile Gallé: a walnut side table with sculpted legs representing dragonflies. This remarkable piece is displayed at the Maison Belle Epoque in Epernay, which houses Maison Perrier-Jouët’s magnificent collection of Art Nouveau furniture, decorative objects and artworks – the largest private collection of French Art Nouveau in Europe.
