The artistic collaboration
A common vision of nature
Since 1811, Maison Perrier-Jouët has been known for its savoir-faire and the quality of its champagnes. It is also known for the botanical interests of its founders, their passion for nature and their relation to art which have been transmitted over generations. Each year since 2012, the House continues to bring to life this legacy by commissioning today’s talents of art and design to highlight the complexity of the living world and the ecological interconnectedness between species.

In 2024, in a grand reinterpretation of Art Nouveau’s veneration of nature, the renowned design studio of Formafantasma is partnering with the House to develop the designers’ vision of an interactive work of architecture for both humans and wildlife. Named Cohabitare, the architectural installation interacts with mankind as well as with the local floral and fauna.

Illustrating the message of this project, Formafantasma has conceived a new edition of The Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët, a gala dinner which will be held this fall in the Champagne region and at the Design Miami art fair in December of 2024. The studio has also designed exclusive limited editions for Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque cuvées.

The Ilot de Biodiversité
In partnership with a team of scientists and experts, the renowned design studio of Formafantasma has been developing a multi-disciplinary initiative for over two years — a long-term undertaking projected towards a better future in the form of an architectural installation for biodiversity, Cohabitare, located in Perrier-Jouët’s Agusons vineyard in Ambonnay, Champagne, France.
The first element of the project, the Ilot de Biovidersité (Biodiversity Island) is revealed in September 2024. 74 poles, positioned in an organic way, mark the 285 square metres of the space and keep humans at a reasonable distance from the nature which welcomes them, without totally cutting them off from it. These poles are structured by terracotta modules, 32 of which were designed to serve as habitats for insects thanks to a range of openings and cavities of different sizes and shapes. The native
species that were planted in this reserved area will serve as food for the insects. Perrier-Jouët hopes that this project will contribute to have a positive impact on the local biodiversity and will measure it over the coming years, as nature operates in its own rhythm.
Cohabitare will also evolve in the long-term as a platform for exchange with designers, researchers, students or the public.
The Ilot de Biodiversité
Maison Perrier-Jouët hopes that the Ilot de Biodiversité (Biodiversity Island) will have a positive influence to enhance biodiversity in and around this preserved space.
